Our Story & Vision
We believe every child has the potential to become a passionate steward of the environment. Our journey began with a simple idea: to make renewable energy and sustainability topics accessible, joyful, and empowering for children and the adults guiding them.
Rooted in caring values and guided by hope, we are committed to supporting families and classrooms on their journey toward sustainability, one story at a time.
Our History: Growing with Green Ideas
The belief is simple: every child deserves the chance to discover how they can help protect our planet. Inspired by the curiosity of young readers and the hope for a brighter tomorrow, we set out to make renewable energy and sustainability topics accessible, fun, and inspiring.
Our journey started on the drive back from a substation site visit whilst determining connection points for two of the first UK offshore wind farms. Jay voiced a thought that she had been having, about our engagement with schools, the available materials, and the future generations that would follow in our wake. A soft commitment to sketch out the ideas ‘you write it, I’ll draw it’ resulted in the first of the Timmy series books being produced. Offshore wind, and renewables in general, were still extremely niche in 2005, and self-publishing was far more challenging. After getting somewhat distracted by our day jobs, the rapidly burgeoning offshore wind industry, the first book sat on the shelf for some time. With huge changes to both the scale of renewable energy, and easy access self-publication platforms, we revisit this first book in 2025, by publishing, adding the second book, and developing the plan for the series. Further series in other areas that have been in an embryonic stasis, may now also grow into reality.
We work with the communications personnel of industry participants to enable targeted engagement with schools close to wind farm sites. The books can be used by parents, teachers, and environmental advocates, to support explanation and education with impact. Our current aims are to get the long-standing content out into the world, shortly followed by filling out the catalogue (i.e. get back to the fun creator stuff).
The books are targeted to spark questions and nurture eco-friendly values. We are committed to nurturing the next generation of planet protectors by providing resources that foster curiosity, empathy, and a lifelong love for our world. All illustrations have been, and will be, undertaken in the same way as the first book (Timmy the Turbine Ventures Out) when AI did not exist. That is with paper, pen and pencil. And maybe a little pastel if we’re pushing the boat out.

Publisher and Illustrator
Elaine Greig is an Offshore Wind Industry Veteran. First as an electrical engineer, then developing and building projects. Ultimately becoming responsible for project development teams in several countries.
Along the way, she was conscripted to sketch out some ideas for Jay’s book. These images have become stuck, and she now finds herself a publisher!
